Top 10 Songs of 2015

Song reviewed by:
SongBlog

For rap fans, 2015 was nothing but excellent. A new mixtape from Drake and Future, new artists on the rise, and overall just a great vibe from the music industry was cast upon us. So, since everyone makes lists at the end of the year I figured I mine as well make one myself. Here is my top ten songs of 2015 and why I loved them so much.

#10. 100 Grandkids by Mac Miller

Mac, he’s an interesting man, for years I thought he was just another teenager with a dream of having a rap career. Sure he had some good tunes but it was nothing stellar, in fact I thought it was far from stellar. His latest album however really changed my opinion of Mac. Mac really outdid himself and 100 Grandkids is definitely my favorite song off of the album. Something about his flow in the song just grabs my ear and tugs at it. All I can say is bravo to Mac.

#9. Can’t Tell by Young Thug Ft. T.I. and Boosie Badazz

Before Barter 6, Young Thug’s albums really were just were not cutting it for me. His repetitiveness and lack of style really upset me because he really has potential. That potential really flourished in Barter 6 and Can’t Tell was just a fantastic song. Anything featuring T.I. is usually good, and in this case, good was an understatement. The two fed off of each other perfectly and I felt Boosie Badazz did a pretty decent job as well. Overall I hope the three pair up more in the future.

#8. Antidote by Travis Scott

I’ve been a big fan of La Flame for a while now and even though some of his songs on Rodeo weren’t great, there were definitely some jams. Antidote, aside from being a milestone song in rap, really is just superb. The tone, the lyrics, the beat, everything just flows and mixes together perfectly. And all I can say is Days After Rodeo should definitely be good.

#7. Angels by Chance the Rapper

Chance is one hell of a man, he’s honestly probably the most under rated rapper in the game. His music isn’t like anything you’d expect, he uses weird tones and effects and mixes it with awesome lyrics that really tell a story. Angels, at first, was just another free song on iTunes, but it quickly grew on me and lifted my spirits overtime I listened to it.

#6. Blasé by Ty Dolla $ign Ft. Future and Rae Sremmurd

Ty Dolla $ign is one of those rappers where everyone knows his songs but no one knows he’s the one behind them. Ty has always been a fan of mine even though his latest album wasn’t one of my favorites. However, Blasé was one of those few songs I really enjoyed. There’s really not much to say other than that hearing Ty, Future, and Rae Sremmurd all in one song really hit me in the feels.

#5. White Iverson by Post Malone

Post Malone has been on the come up in the past year, and it is no doubt that his success has come from his hit single, White Iverson. It’s great beat and weird, yet interesting style, really captured my attention. The song seems to stray away from other hiphop styles and basically sets its own tone. I really cannot wait of his album that supposedly drops this March.

#4. Facts by Kanye West

Now, I know this song dropped on December 31st but hey, that’s still 2015 my friends. Kanye really was in the dark, music wise, in 2015. I get why though, the man was launching his new clothing line and dropping some amazing sneakers throughout the year. However, Facts came out of nowhere and seemed to be written out of anger. Kanye, I have to say, really killed it and showed that he is done taking crap from anyone.

#3. Canal St. by A$AP Rocky Ft. Bones

A$AP Rocky is one of my favorite rappers in the game right now, period. Everything from his style and execution to his dedication to fashion and music, A$AP Rocky just nails it all. Canal St. was just one of those songs that I could listen to anytime of the day, it is just perfect in every sense. So to the man himself, A$AP Rocky…. you killed it.

#2. Don’t by Bryson Tiller

Bryson Tiller is one of my new favorite artists hands down. He has so much talent up his sleeve that I think he could really do anything he sets his mind to. His talent and ear for music just makes it so much easier for him to make great music. Trapsoul is one of my favorite albums of 2015 and I wish I could put every track on this list. So, since I can’t do that, “Don’t” is number two and for good reason.

#1. Back to Back by Drake

If we have learned anything in this past year it’s that if you wanna call out Drake…. well never mind, you shouldn’t. Meek Mill probably should’ve kept his mouth shut but instead, Meek faced the path of the 6 God himself. Back to Back is so well written it just blows my mind overtime I listen to it. I’m mind blown at how perfect this song is and I have zero regrets when it comes to putting this at number one on my list.
